The Maumee River is the Great Lakes’ fishiest watershed. It feeds western Lake Erie, The Maumee River and warmest of the Great Lakes, which has more consumable fish than all the Great Lakes combined.

The Maumee River and Lake Erie offer so much to Toledo and Ohio, including drinking water for over 11 million people. Many of us are working to protect these resources and improve the Western Lake Erie ecosystem through academia, non-profits, environmental organizations, personal lifestyle, recreation, government, utility management, and more.

The goal of the Maumee Bay River Festival is to bring our collective efforts together and share information while celebrating the water we cherish, and in doing so creating more awareness to the fragility and importance of the Maumee River, Lake Erie and the Great Lakes.

The Maumee Bay River Festival proceeds benefit Lake Erie Waterkeeper, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is: “To preserve, protect, and improve the watersheds, waters, and fish of Lake Erie, the Great Lakes’ warmest, shallowest, most biologically productive lake, and to increase public awareness through collaboration, education and advocacy.”

The Festival will feature boat rides on the Sandpiper, live music, tours of a Coast Guard boat, DNR fish sampling, canoeing and kayaking in the lagoon at International Park, a fishing derby, water-related information booths, food vendors, beer sales, and more!
